SPENCER SPORTS

Philosophy:  To develop athletes’ skills, promote team spirit, school spirit and social responsibility. The emphasis of athletics in middle schools is on participation and skill building, so there are no students cut from teams and we offer playing time in games regardless of ability.  Our primary aim, during this critically influential age of our students, is to encourage a lifelong interest in activity and fitness, with the outcome of competitive play being secondary.

We offer:  Grade 6/7 Girls & Boys teams, competitive and recreational divisions

Athletic Fee: School District #62 charges $40 per player per year for any sport they play.  This fee covers costs such as association fees, officials and uniforms.  Athletes pay this fee once and can play on as many teams as they like.  Please contact the office if you need more information or assistance with the fee.

Uniforms:  Athletes are provided with a team jersey.  If uniforms are lost or have excessive wear and tear, players will be charged $50.00 to cover a replacement.

“Westshore Basketball is now accepting players for our Fall, Winter and Spring programs.  Registration and information can be found through our website at www.westshorebasketball.com.  In our 5th year of operations, Westshore Basketball creates teams to play in the Victoria and District Basketball League (Night League).  We have U11, U13 and U15 teams for both girls and boys.  Practices are once a week in the Westshore (Belmont HS) and games are once a week at Lansdowne, Central or SJ Willis Schools.

We also run a ‘Timbits Soccer’ inspired program called Westshore Rain for kids aged 5-9.  This is a weekly program that runs on Tuesdays at John Stubbs School.  In addition, we operate Winter Break Camps, Spring Break Camps and other basketball events.

Anyone interested in becoming involved can contact club directors Brad Lidstone or Curt Spaven at bball.westshore@gmail.com.  Additional program details can be found on our website at www.westshorebasketball.com”.
